Transland president Roberto Rodriguez was honored for his many contributions to the Wichita Falls (TX) community in general, and the Hispanic community in particular. Rodriguez was named the Hispanic Person of the Year for 2015. The honor was presented by the Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative at their annual Scholarship banquet on April 2, 2016.
Rodriguez was honored again by his Transland co-workers on Monday, April 4th (see picture at right).
Rodriguez moved from California to Wichita Falls in 2007 with the relocation of Transland and has grown to become very active in church and community activities. He presently serves on the board of directors of the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce. A more complete profile of Rodriguez can be found here.
The ZAVALA organization developed in 2001 when Chuck Neale, Director of the Wichita Falls Community Foundation, and Carroll Wilson, then-Editor of Wichita Falls Times Record News noted the increased growth in the Hispanic population and the need to have Hispanics involved in leadership positions. More information about Zavala can be found on their website.
