The Transland 7 1/2″ Gate Box is receiving great reviews. Read and hear what operators have to say about both the Hydraulic and Manual models of this product below.
Mike Hall (left) from East Prairie, MO is very enthusiastic about the Hydraulic 7 1/2″ Gate. He loves the simplicity of use with the DynaNav touch-screen monitor controller.
He has already put out over 1.5 million pounds using the new 7 1/2″ Gate and feels it has been a tremendous tool to have on his aircraft.
Mike updated us in January, 2016 on his experience with the Hydraulic 7 1/2″ Gate:
“I have run the 7 1/2 inch gate for a year now and have had great results out of it and is easy to operate and maintain. It will do anything that Transland’s flagship 5 inch gate as well as the high volume 10 inch gate will do with amazing accuracy. I have put out 10 pound to the acre of grass seed with it without having to use a metering plate as we as 500 pound to the acre of fertilizer in one pass. I have run it side by side with my other plane with the 10 inch gate and have seen better results in the field. It’s speed of operation is fantastic. You can open and close the gate while jumping a fence row or a ditch where I couldn’t do that with my 10 inch gate. And the Dyna Nav controller allows you to adjust your output by such small amounts you can literally vary the acres by load by a half an acre if you want to. You have the capability of using the controller either by fractions of an inch, by rate inputs from the GPS or manually from a dial pot on the controller if your GPS goes out. This controller is the easiest one that I have used. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone that want’s simplicity as well as being able to do a rate of 10 pound to 500 pound to the acre while setting in the seat of plane.”
Mike feels the Transland 7 1/2″ gate and controller keep the gate opening exactly where it needs to be for whatever application he is doing. As one of the early users of the gate and controller, Mike has had many questions, but he can’t say enough about the customer service from Transland and DynaNav to work through his questions and address his issues. An advantage of a computer-based controller is that when a software update is required, Mike pulls an SD disc from the unit in the aircraft, puts it in his desktop computer and the new updated version is ready for his use the next morning!

Mike’s good friend Scott Rainey in nearby Obion, TN took delivery of a new Air Tractor 802 in the early months of 2015. When he had his own “bells and whistles” installed on the plane, he also added a Transland 7 1/2″ Hydraulic Gate Box. Changing from a 10″ Gate Box, Scott tells us that he feels the 7 1/2″ is “the gate of the future”.

Chris Pulliam with Miles Flying Service has used the Transland Manual 7 1/2″ Gate for well over one year. He reports it is easy to install and very easy to use. He tells us more about his experience with the manual gate in this video.
